I know the site doesn't yet have much functionality as far as email notifications and subscriptions go. It's nice for the site to contact you when there's new content that may interest you - beats having to regularly check the site all the time! So, I plan on getting that feature back and more.
Hopefully as soon as this weekend I'll be able to implement some new features. Some highlights to look forward to:
-The basic "subscribe to topic/blog/whatever"
-Reply via email! I'll see if I can configure the server to accept emails, and make the post on the website for you! This functions like a mailing list or the old google group, and allows you to interact on the website without ever browsing to the website.
-Subscribe other people. This would be handy if you're part of a team and know your other team members would be interested in following a topic. Could also be used like the former "announce topic via email" on SMF, but includes replies.
-Automatically receive notifications of content matching certain rules. For example, you can receive an email for any comment/page where your name is mentioned.
I've found some solutions and modules for the above, but that doesn't mean installation of these will be straightforward and trouble-free. I apologize for any bugs, and hopefully I can get through this without spamming everyone =P I hope these features will make things a lot easier to keep up with in ECCM!
